Multipack buys of the Exhaust Tight Draught Stoppers are now available.
Exhaust Tight Fan Draught Stopper - 320mm Diameter is used with ceiling exhaust fans to stop air flowing in the reverse direction. It has a flap which automatically closes when the exhaust fan is off to minimise air leakage within the building envelope, and draught-proof your home.
Made in Australia of recycled molded plastic, this draught stopper damper will sit on top of the exhaust fan in the ceiling/loft space.
**Please note that some low-voltage "Eco" exhaust fans do not allow any draught stopper to work because they do not produce enough air flow to open a flap (or flaps). This type of exhaust fan should be replaced with a new unit that has an integrated draught stopper or an inline fan solution - as sold in our webshop.

Just installed 2-off above bathroom and toilet exhaust fans.
Perfect fit.
As the exhaust fans are small low flow types,so to improve air through the flap opening I silicone glue an extra small weight to the counterweight which works great.Flap still closes fine but opens higher when the fan is operating.
All good.
Does function very well and cost effectively in reducing air escaping into the roof when your non-ducted radial fan is off. And, depending on your fan strength, can work for air extraction. My bathroom fans are ~260m3/h and they just raise the lid by 2cm; or only 8mm if the bathroom door is closed. Thus if you want maximum extraction plus no drafts you'd be better off with the first-best solution of upgrading your fan to one with a backdraft shutter (can be sub $100). Easier install too as you don't need roof access to change the fan (this product does require roof access). I would note the TightHouse team have excellent videos, customer support and advice. Watch this video for fan options / explanations to understand your fan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoFxeDflgtg and this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h53upSUNumA. It is clear inline ducted fans are superior for extraction, with radial non-ducted fans much worse. That said, if you don't want to go to the cost and hassle of upgrading your fan to ducted to get better extraction (and avoid venting moist air into your roof) then this draft stopper with your existing radial fan can work very cost effectively. I would note there is now no thermal foil on the top off the product (to reflect heat in the roof cavity), despite this being shown in the video on the TightHouse site. The Tight House team should note this absence explicitly in the product description - as this was a selling point for me for hot summers (vs competitor stopper). Note also the lid is surprisingly heavy - so if your fan is weak / under-powered it might not work to lift the lid to allow extraction. That said, if your fan can do > 260m3/h then you should be fine with this product. Happy draft proofing, and thanks Tight House team!
Not only it's a rubish, although I'd had asked you if it's suitable for our bathroom fan, it didn't, but I spent over $20 to return it just to get it back to me, it stays in the garage ready for the next clean up, altogether over $80 trown ! Many "thanks" for that!
Rossie, thanks for your review, unfortunately there are some very poor performing fans still avialable on the market that cant even move enough air with the bathroom door open, let alone with a draft stopper. Its been embedded with this product when you purchased this product. The youtube video is here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h53upSUNumA
We have attempted to return this money via paypal even though you dont return our communication. Thanks for your review, because we think its important that people are aware of poor quality exhaust fans on the market, and that they shouldnt be covered with draft stoppers, or have doors to toilets and doors closed when they are in operation.
Just arrived, well packaged exactly as described! Looking forward to installation in the next few days.
Very happy, will chat to the owner of the building once installed, so he can see the difference it makes in our apartments.
Hopefully purchase another 6 for the 3 other apartments in our building.
Also the cheapest I found anywhere, well done 👍
Thank you ☺️
This was a really good buy. Works extremely well.
