Finishes and seals the oversized hole cut behind kitchen and bathroom joinery where power points, data outlets and plumbing come through the wall. Closes the gap to the wall lining so your cabinets stop leaking air and letting vermin in — and look finished inside.

The hole nobody fixes

Every kitchen and bathroom has power points, plumbing and cables that pass through the wall behind the cabinets. The joinery is cut with a hole saw or jigsaw to get them through, and that rough, oversized hole is simply left open — hidden behind the kickboard or inside the cupboard. Nobody sees it, so nobody fixes it.

That hole is one of the largest uncontrolled air leaks in a house. Conditioned air escapes into the wall cavity, cold draughts and moisture come back the other way, and mice, cockroaches and ants have a ready-made entry into the pantry and under the sink. Blower door testing routinely finds kitchen and vanity penetrations among the worst leakage points in a home.

What the JOC does

The JOC is a single moulded collar that closes the opening between the joinery and the wall. It covers the rough cut-out, frames the power point or pipe neatly, and gives you a flat face to seal to the wall lining so the penetration is air sealed, not just hidden. The result is a clean, square, finished opening inside the cabinet instead of a ragged hole.

Features

  • Covers up the joinery cut-out back to the wall lining — stops air leakage and vermin entry
  • Changes the sequencing to allow electricians to fit off before joinery installation.
  • Suits standard Australian double power points, data plates and plumbing penetrations
  • Compatible with airtight power point backing boxes
  • One-piece collar — nothing to assemble, nothing to lose
  • Clean, rounded, finished look inside kitchens, laundries, vanities, wardrobes and custom joinery
  • No modification to the power point or wiring — the electrician’s work is untouched
  • Cutting template included so the joinery opening is cut right the first time
  • Suits new builds and retrofits — fit it while cabinets are being installed, or when replacing a kitchen
  • PLA plastic. Designed and made in Australia

Installation

  1. Position the JOC cutting template on the back or side panel of the cabinet over the penetration and mark the opening through the template slots.
  2. Cut the opening with a jigsaw or multi-tool.
  3. Fit the cabinet. The power point or pipe passes through the opening.
  4. Apply a bead of flexible sealant where the collar meets the wall lining, then press the JOC into the opening.

The trim cover conceals the oversized joinery cut-out, leaving a neat and professional finish while maintaining access to the power point.
